Joyful Mysteries
The Joyful Mysteries
A musical Holy Rosary walking with Mary through the early life of Christ — from the Annunciation to the Finding in the Temple.
The five Joyful Mysteries
Each decade of this sung Rosary contemplates one moment from the Gospel. Hold it in mind as you pray along.
The Annunciation
The angel Gabriel announces to Mary that she will conceive by the Holy Spirit and bear the Son of God. She answers with trust: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord.”
The Visitation
Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth. At Mary’s greeting, John leaps in the womb, and Elizabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit. Mary answers with the Magnificat.
The Nativity
In Bethlehem, Jesus is born and laid in a manger. Angels announce the Savior’s birth to shepherds, who come and adore the newborn Christ.
The Presentation
Mary and Joseph present the infant Jesus in the Temple. Simeon takes Him in his arms and proclaims Him a light to the nations; Anna gives thanks to God.
The Finding in the Temple
At twelve years old, Jesus is found in the Temple among the teachers. He returns to Nazareth and is obedient to Mary and Joseph.
